Aside from the fact that I am an artist and a mother. I am 100% sure that I had no fucking idea who, Heather Walker, truly is, until very recently.
I had always had ideas, thoughts, and strengths of my own flowing through this “body”. But I was crippled by trauma, fear, rejection, stuck in survival mode.
I was either floating through life, or barely keeping my head above water, exhausted, overwhelmed and drowning…
I realize now... that I never really learned how to swim.

My life has always been a roller coaster. I have been fighting to be heard, to be loved and to be seen as more than a face, a body, an object, a race…to be bought, sold, used, abused…and for what? Why?
No one could even place me in a category, because it didn’t exist at the time. What are you? For years, I didn’t even have a box to check in school, or on government forms.
Was I Black, White, Native American, or Other? My identity was in crisis. I didn’t fit any mold.
But… I was pretty. This is something that I was always told. Who doesn’t want that right?
This box should have a disclaimer that reads something like “you are so much more than just this.”
