Heather Walker, the creator of “The Creative Behind the Seams” was only five years old when she told her mother that she wanted to be an artist, and a lawyer for children, “because they have no rights”. She may not have become a lawyer, but she is without a doubt an artist, a protector, seeking truth freedom and justice…especially children and the vulnerable…helping those who may not be able to help themselves.

I am no stranger to adversity. Nor am I a stranger to isolation, depression, and trauma.
July 5 2022 I suffered a brain injury after getting hit in the head by a ladder at work and was later diagnosed with Post concussion syndrome. In addition to constant headaches, and dizziness, I developed high sensitivity to lights and sounds. This condition severely limits my access to the outside world, and usually leads to physical pain, anxiety, and a slew of other emotions attached to this whole situation.
I made a lot of art, wrote and recorded tons of diaries and songs in the beginning. I still had faith that the Company would “do the right”, take accountability and get me the help that I so desperately needed. Despite my efforts, the Company behaved as most corporations do by denying responsibility and threatening to take legal action. (This was our last correspondence here. So you can get an idea of what they might have thought was the final word.)
The "Creative" was born...
I looked up examples of “Having Nothing to Lose”. Under examples of personal growth I found “The Creative” which was defined as: “Someone feeling lost, starts a small daily creative habit, with no expectation, just to move forward, finding purpose again.”
It fit ME and the idea perfectly. But, something was missing. I was still playing it safe. This “inside-out” human experience and the purpose of this project is about a lot more than just calling out a billion dollar corporation. I was still hiding…and then realized that the truth would lead to freedom.
The foundation of this project has been years in the making.
The Creative | Behind the Seams
Behind the Seams was created with the intention of finding a way to be able to connect with other humans (while isolated from the world) through personal stories, diaries, entertainment, and investigative journeys…It was developed out of necessity, survival, a way to breathe, to keep going, to take back control over my life, its narrative, share my story, and the stories of others. My goal here is to do what I have always been too afraid to do. This is about facing fears, letting go, learning, maintaining and understanding boundaries, personal acceptance, accountability, perseverance, hope and survival. I want to inspire and help others to do the same. Behind the Seams will highlight the complexities, and wonders of the human (experiment) connections, through thought provoking journeys, deep dives, art, music, history, math, science, mainstream, old school and the “divine”. Knowledge is power and understanding is a key component towards our personal growth and healing as we all go through the transformative processes of the human experience. Aside from being an artist and a mother, I spent most of my life not really knowing who "Heather Walker" was.
I always had my own ideas, thoughts and strengths moving through this body. But I was crippled by trauma, fear and rejection, stuck in survival mode. I was either floating through life or barely keeping my head above water — exhausted, overwhelmed and drowning.
I realize now I never really learned how to swim. I just adapted. I bent myself to whatever was needed to appease others and society, just to get by. There was no time or space to process anything — let alone to heal, or grow into someone who understands, accepts and forgives herself.
That's what's changing.
I’m learning to release the misplaced burden of shame, self‑hate and self‑harm, and to turn it into something beautiful and powerful. If my story reaches even one other person, that’s the beginning of a connection — a small piece of shared hope and the comfort of knowing you’re not alone.

So, who is Heather Walker?
A human being who has learned, seen and experienced enough to know that coming forward and breaking the silence — with acknowledgement and support — can start the healing process, change lives and break cycles of abuse.
Someone who wants to lead people back to one another at their core, without labels and other man‑made restrictions.
I have never been more sure of who I am and what I want. I know I am strong and resilient as fuck. I question authority. I crave growth, understanding and spiritual connection. I fight for justice and I speak my mind.
I am a work in progress — and that’s a good thing.
I’m grateful I’ve had time to process some of my trauma and break through a massive wall of shame. I can look myself in the eyes again and not have to look away. Holding a strong mindset isn’t easy, especially under my current circumstances, but I keep choosing it.

The Creative Collaboratory is a place for us to connect, create and build our own reality. One that is based on love. A place to share our ideas, stories, and dreams; where we listen with empathy, openness, and find ways to accomplish our goals together…free of judgement, because here we are equal. REMEMBER that each and every one of us has a beautiful gift that can’t be packaged, or sold…because it isn’t yours, or mine…it’s a part of who we are as a whole…this is a shared experience…none of us are in this alone.
